Engineering Education Scheme
Encourages the most able young
people to consider engineering as their professional
career by enabling them to work in teams on
significant industrial engineering projects through
partnerships between schools/colleges and companies
during the period October to April.
The Year twelve students work in teams of four or five with the
companies over a period of six months on the
project, which includes a three-day residential
workshop in a University Engineering Department. The
project culminates in a written report which is
professionally assessed at the Project Presentation
Day.
Typically 1800 students (28%
of which are female), all with high GCSE grades,
take part each year. The majority are taking
mathematics and physics at A level.
Every year, around 36%go on to
read engineering degrees and a further 52% to read
science/maths/IT degrees.
