Study/Engineering Courses
The Right Institution
Once you have chosen the
subject/s that interests you most and decided upon
the type of course, the next step is to find out
which institution offers your course.
There are numerous
universities throughout the UK that offer
engineering degree courses. Choosing the right
institution is a personal decision that is dependent
upon your own unique preferences, interests and
aspirations. It is important to bear in mind that
there is no such thing as the best or worse
university. Only you will know best.
Consider…
-
Entry requirements - will
you be able to achieve the right grades to get
onto your chosen course?
-
Remember be honest with
yourself!
-
Teaching facilities - this
includes teaching staff/student ratio,
libraries, laboratories, computer rooms, reading
rooms, and access to these facilities
-
Reputation - although
there is no such thing as the "best"
college/university, some colleges/universities
have built up a reputation of excellence in a
particular field/s.
Industry Links - are there strong industrial
links? Does it attract industrial
research/sponsorship/placement/vacation
opportunities?
-
Employability - What
percentage of graduates find employment within
the first 6 months of graduating?
-
Lifestyle - location - city or rural campus
university, recreational facilities, social life
etc
