Study/Engineering Courses

What about Accredited Degrees?

If you want to take up a career as a professional engineer, it is important to check the status of your university degree course before you apply. Completion of an accredited degree course provides a suitable academic base for obtaining professional recognition as a Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng). This requires registering with the Engineering Council (UK), through a professional institution - www.engc.org.uk.

In the UK, the national bodies for engineering are the Engineering Council (UK) and the Engineering Technology Board (ETB). The Engineering Technology Board promotes the science and practice of engineering. Whilst the Engineering Council (UK) works in partnership with the professional institutions, and is responsible for maintaining the Standards and Routes to Registration (SARTOR), and endeavours to provide a world-class engineering workforce capable of maximising its technological developments.

More information is available (via our links resources) on the Engineering Council and Professional Institutions' web sites.
