Mechanical engineering is the
most diverse engineering discipline. It is concerned
with the research, design, development, manufacture,
testing and maintenance of all moving mechanisms,
big or small, within the manufacturing and
processing industry. Just about all engineering
sectors needs mechanical engineers, be that
aerospace, automotive, chemical, construction,
electronic or the food industry. Mechanical
engineering is also concerned with the properties of
materials, in particular how they change with wear,
fatigue, corrosion, changing pressure, bending and
rotation.
