Job Searching? Here's How
Where to Search for that Job?
Jobcentres/Jobcentre Plus
-
Jobcentres are government
run agencies, which assist unemployed
individuals with job searching. They provide a
number of useful facilities including access to
newspapers, journals, stationary, stamps, word
processing, as well as help and advice.
-
Job Centres carry a very
broad spectrum of jobs. Although there are few
senior /management and graduate positions!
-
Staff can arrange suitable interviews and offer
support, advice and information on New Deal etc.
-
Job Centres and Jobcentre Plus are usually
listed in local directories or the Yellow Pages
or check out:

All change - Jobcentre
Plus is different, really!! It is the new arm of
the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), who
have contracts with the Benefits Agency and
Employment Service. There are currently 56
pathfinder Jobcentre Plus across the UK, each
centre having undergone a £1 million
refurbishment. A further 225 Jobcentre Plus are
planned to open by the end of this year. So if
you live near a Jobcentre Plus you will
certainly notice the difference. As you are most
likely to walk into a swish office, with
electronic job points and be welcomed by a
"floor walker", who will simply explain how the
system works. Be prepared to be surprised!
