Job Searching? Here's How

Assessment Centres

Employers usually invest a lot of time and resources in planning and organising assessment centres, in order to try and make them as enjoyable as possible. But if Assessment Centres unnerve you…

Handy Tips

  • Be well prepared - it pays!

  • An assessment centre is a fair selection process - so be positive about it, and remember you will have more than one opportunity to demonstrate your skills

  • The same criteria used for interviews is also applied to assessment centres

  • Be yourself and do not try to be something you are not

  • Once you have survived the assessment centre experience, spend some time thinking constructively about how you acted, how you could have handled things differently and where you could have improved

  • Remember assessment centres are a two way selection process, and are as much about whether you would like to work for a particular employer, and your ability to do the job, as well as an employer giving you a message about the organisation
